Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka is a British-American musician and sitarist. She was the first and the first woman to be awarded the British House of Commons Shield she's received Nine Grammy Awards nominations and was the first artist of Indian origin to play live in concert and be a presenter for the ceremony. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young rising star on the Indian Sitar, is Anoushka. She is Ravi Shankar's student and is also his daughter. Her birthplace was London in 1982. In the first few years of her life she was split between London New Delhi. At the age of 13 she staged her debut performance in New Delhi. In 1999, she completed her high schooling in Encinitas CA. Her career as a performer and recorder is impressive, despite her youth. She frequently joins her father in performances this she's done for several years. In 1998 she released her debut self-titled album Anourag. It was followed by Live at Carnegie Hall, a Grammy-nominated album a year following. Stage performances are a important aspect of her life. She's played in many major venues all over the globe. Her career extends beyond music. In 2002, she wrote the book Bapi The of My Life. of My Live this is a pictorial biography which is a respect to her dad Ravi Shankar. She also acted on the film "Dance Like a Man" in 2003. The role she played was that of as a Bharat Natyam dancer in Dance Like a Man. Anoushka continues to grow in her professional career, and will surely be other things to be expected from this amazing woman. Anoushka Shankar is a British born musician who spent her early years in London, Delhi and California. When she was nine years old, she began her studies in music under her father, who made her debut with the sitar 4 years later during the celebration of his 75th birthday in Delhi. Anoushka's father toured around the globe with her, and she also gained a variety of experience. While still in her teens, Anoushka performed at Carnegie Hall during Peter Gabriel's WOMAD concert. Her talent and musicality was recognised by British Parliament as being among the top of the best in Asian Arts.
